The New York Mets activated Kaz Ishii from the 15-day disabled list and the lefthander tossed 6 1/3 solid innings in a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. Ishii, who got a no-decision, allowed just one run on three hits, striking out two and walking two. He also had a career-high two hits at the plate. Ishii had been sidelined since April 19 with a pulled muscle on his left side. The only run the Reds got off Ishii came in the sixth. Joe Randa began the frame with a walk, moved to second on a ground out by Felipe Lopez and then stole third before coming home on a Sean Casey groundout to first. Doug Mientkiewicz fielded the high chopper, but didn't have a play at the plate despite playing in on the grass. The 31-year-old hurler, who was acquired just prior to the start of the season from the Los Angeles Dodgers for catcher Jason Phillips, is 0-2 with a 3.96 ERA in four starts this year. Ishii takes the roster spot of Victor Diaz, who was sent to Triple-A Norfolk following last night's 9-2 win. Diaz was hitting .294 with four homers and 15 RBI.
