The Minnesota Twins optioned second baseman Luis Rivas to Triple-A Rochester after Saturday's game against the Angels, and also announced they would activate third baseman Michael Cuddyer from the 15- day disabled list Sunday.
Cuddyer was placed on the DL July 2 with a badly bruised left hand, suffered when he was struck by a fastball thrown by Kansas City pitcher D.J. Carrasco on June 29.
In three rehab games at Rochester, Cuddyer was 1-for-9 with one run scored and two stolen bases. He is batting .259 with five homers and 22 RBI in 69 games for the Twins this season and will be in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
Rivas was batting .250 with two doubles and eight RBI in 48 games for Minnesota.
