Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cory Lidle has left the team for personal reasons. It is not clear when the veteran will return.
The righthander has pitched well for Philadelphia this season, but has been roughed up lately. Lidle has been battered for 19 hits and 14 runs in his last two starts, lasting a total of just 7 1/3 innings.
He is 8-8 on the season with a 4.45 ERA.
Lidle, acquired from Cincinnati late last season, went 5-2 with a 3.90 ERA in 10 starts down the stretch for the Phillies. He was the Opening Day starter for the Reds in 2004 and finished the season with a 12-12 record and 4.90 ERA.
Phillies reliever Tim Worrell left the team for almost two months to deal with personal issues earlier this season. Worrell was traded to Arizona on Thursday in exchange for infielder Matt Kata.
