The San Francisco Giants activated third baseman Edgardo Alfonzo from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Florida Marlins.
Alfonzo, who had been out since June 13 with a strained left quadriceps muscle, had two RBI in Friday night's 8-5 victory.
The Giants sent Alfonzo on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Fresno, and he appeared in four games there, hitting .467 (7-for-15).
Prior to going on the DL, Alfonzo was hitting .306 in 58 games this season. He has not gone more than two straight games without a hit all year.
