Kansas City Royals designated hitter Mike Sweeney left Friday night's 5-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays after being hit on the left wrist with a pitch in the first inning.
Sweeney, who remained in the game to run the bases, was taken to a local hospital for precautionary x-rays, results of which were not immediately known. He is listed as day-to-day.
Sweeney spent time on the disabled list earlier this season with an injury to the same wrist. He is bating .305 with 13 homers and 49 RBI in 71 games this season.
