Florida Marlins righthander Josh Beckett was activated from the 15-day disabled list and started in Saturday's 16-4 blowout win over San Francisco.
Beckett (9-6) was sharp in his return to the lineup as he pitched six solid innings to earn the win. He yielded only two runs on four hits while striking out seven and was backed by a season-high 16 runs of offense.
He had been placed on the DL retroactive to July 6 with a left oblique strain and made his first appearance since then.
The hard-throwing Beckett has been on the DL twice this season as he has also been shelved with a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand.
The 25-year-old Texas native, who lowered his ERA to 3.33, won for only the second time since May 29.
The 2003 World Series MVP has been on the DL nine times in his career, with six of those stints being blister-related.
In a corresponding move, Florida optioned righthander Travis Smith to Triple-A Albuquerque.
