Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jason Jennings, who is expected to miss the rest of the season, was put on the 15- day disabled list Saturday with a compression fracture of his right middle finger.
Jennings, who was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2002, injured the finger while making a hard slide into second base trying to break up a double-play against Washington on Wednesday night.
Jennings, who has been the club's most durable starter, finishes the 2005 campaign with a 6-9 mark and a 5.02 ERA. Only Jennings and lefty Jeff Francis (8-7) have been in the club's rotation all season.
The Rockies made a few other moves on Saturday. They added infielder Anderson Machado to the active roster and purchased the contract of lefthander Randy Williams from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The team also optioned infielder Eddy Garabito to Colorado Springs and transferred righthander Blaine Neal from the 15-day DL to the 60-day disabled list. Neal is out with right elbow inflammation.
