The Baltimore Orioles activated catcher Javy Lopez from the 15-day disabled list prior to Monday's 4-2 loss to the Texas Rangers at Camden Yards.
Lopez, who finished the game 0-for-4, had been sidelined since breaking a bone in his hand after taking a foul tip off his unprotected right hand back on May 24.
In a four-game rehabilitation stint with Double-A Bowie, Lopez hit .400, going 6-for-15.
The Orioles were 22-31 without him and have fallen to third place in the American League East, 3 1/2 games behind the Boston Red Sox and two back of the New York Yankees.
The 34-year-old Lopez is batting .271 with seven home runs and 22 RBI in 43 games for the O's this season.
Lopez, a native of Ponce, Puerto Rico, is in his 14th major league season. He spent the first 12 years of his career in Atlanta before signing with the Orioles as a free agent on January 6, 2004.
For his career, he has a .290 average with 244 homers and 802 RBI.
