The Washington Nationals activated first baseman Nick Johnson from the 15-day disabled prior to Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves.
Johnson, who was placed on the DL on July 3 with a right heel bruise, finished the game 0-for-4.
The 26-year-old Johnson leads the Nationals with a .315 batting average and also has eight home runs and 42 RBI.
In a related move, Washington designated outfielder Kenny Kelly for assignment. Kelly was claimed off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds last week.
