The Philadelphia Eagles have signed all of their 2005 draft picks after inking linebacker Matt McCoy to a five-year contract on Friday.
McCoy was the 11th draft pick of the Eagles, who selected him with the 63rd overall pick in April's NFL Draft. The second-round choice out of San Diego State will begin practicing on Saturday at Lehigh University.
The former Aztec started 28 of 35 games in college, posting 270 tackles and eight sacks. McCoy will battle for playing time at linebacker and special teams.
McCoy's signing on Friday was overshadowed by the shooting of Eagles defensive end Jerome McDougle. McDougle was shot in the abdominal area late Thursday night in an attempted robbery in southwest Miami-Dade County.
According to Miami-Dade County police, McDougle underwent surgery at JMH Ryder Trauma Center and is reported to be in good condition.
