The Los Angeles Dodgers designated veteran pitcher Scott Erickson for assignment prior to Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Erickson, who was signed by the Dodgers back in January, went 1-4 with a 6.02 ERA in eight starts.
The 36-year-old has a career record of 141-132 in 13 major league seasons. Last season, with the New York Mets and Texas, Erickson was 1-4 in six starts.
Erickson has also played for Baltimore and Minnesota and was a member of the 1991 World Series champion Twins. That year, he finished second in American League Cy Young Award voting after posting a 20-8 mark with a 3.18 ERA.
In other team moves, Los Angeles recalled catcher Dioner Navarro from Triple-A Las Vegas and purchased the contract of pitcher Jonathan Broxton from Double-A Jacksonville. The Dodgers also optioned catcher Mike Rose to Las Vegas.
Broxton, who will be making his first appearance in the majors, went 4-3 with a 3.26 ERA and four saves in 28 games for Jacksonville.
