The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed outfielder Jayson Werth on the 15-day disabled list due to bursitis in his left knee. Werth is hitting .241 with five homers and 25 RBI this season. The Dodgers also activated third baseman Jose Valentin off the 60-day disabled list. He had been sidelined since early May due to torn ligaments in his right knee. Valentin started in left field for Sunday's game against St. Louis and had two hits with a run scored. He's hitting .208 this season.
