Winslow reportedly done for season

Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow will reportedly miss the entire 2005 season with a torn right ACL he suffered in a motorcycle accident on May 1. WKYC-TV in Cleveland reported on Wednesday that the former first round pick, who had an MRI this week, had suffered a significant right-knee injury. Doctors had been waiting for the swelling in the knee to subside before performing any tests. The Cleveland Plain Dealer then reported on Thursday that the injury was in fact a torn ACL, but that no other ligaments were torn. Surgery could be performed within a month and Winslow will likely need 10-to-12 months of rehabilitation. Also according to the report, Winslow, who is expected to have an independent exam done on the knee for a second opinion, knows the results and so do the Browns, but the Winslow family will not allow the information to be made public. The 21-year-old Winslow was released from the Cleveland Clinic on May 10 after being hospitalized nine days for injuries sustained in the accident. Winslow, fresh off an injured rookie season with the Browns, was riding a motorcycle when he apparently hit a curb and was thrown from the bike. Winslow, the sixth overall pick in the 2004 draft out of Miami-Florida, had his rookie season cut short after suffering a broken right leg in a Week 2 loss at Dallas. Winslow finished the 2004 campaign with just five catches for 50 yards.
