Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter Corey Koskie left his team's 4-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Thursday with a broken right thumb.
Koskie suffered the injury while sliding into second base after tagging up on a fly out by Vernon Wells. Koskie collided with Minnesota's Luis Rivas. He was taken to a local hospital for X-rays, which revealed the fracture.
Toronto manager John Gibbons said that Koskie will remain in Minnesota to see a hand specialist and there is no timetable for his return.
The 31-year-old Koskie, who was pinch-hit for by Frank Menechino in the fourth inning, signed a three-year contract Toronto this past offseason after he spending the first seven years of his career with the Twins, who selected him in the 26th round of the 1994 First Year Player Draft.
Koskie, who singled in his only at-bat, is hitting .248 with seven homers and 16 RBI.
