Orlando Magic forward Grant Hill earned the NBA's Sportsmanship Award for the 2004-05 season, the league announced on Thursday.
The award honors a player who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court -- ethical behavior, fair play and integrity. The trophy is named for former Detroit Pistons All-Star guard Joe Dumars, the award's first recipient.
Hill received 134 first-place votes and 2,778 points in the balloting. Each team nominated one of its own players for the award, then former NBA players Tom Heinsohn, Eddie Johnson, Steve Mix, Kelly Tripucka and Stu Lantz selected the six divisional winners.
Hill, Phoenix' Steve Nash, Shane Battier of the Grizzlies, Austin Croshere of the Pacers, Jacque Vaughn of the Nets and Andrei Kirilenko of the Jazz were selected as divisional winners.
The 32-year-old Hill averaged 19.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 67 games this season for the Magic, who failed to qualify for the postseason.
