The Cleveland Indians activated lefthander Arthur Rhodes off the bereavement list Friday.
Rhodes was placed on the bereavement list one week ago because of a family illness. The burly southpaw is 3-1 in 44 appearances this season with a 1.98 earned run average, and has not permitted an earned run in his last eight games.
To make room for Rhodes on the roster, Cleveland optioned left-handed pitcher Brian Tallet to the club's Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo.
Tallet allowed one run on two hits in 2 1/3 innings in his 2005 debut against the Kansas City Royals on August 9.
