Oakland Athletics rightfielder Nick Swisher was placed on the bereavement list on Sunday, as he mourns the passing of his grandmother. Swisher, who has to spend at least three days on the list, is hitting .256 and his 16 homers and 58 runs batted in this season tops all American League rookies. The Athletics also recalled outfielder Matt Watson from Triple-A Sacramento. This will be his third time with the A's this season. Watson hit .152 in 12 games in two prior stints for Oakland.
