The Chicago White Sox have placed outfielder Scott Podsednik on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left adductor muscle.
Podsednik has been bothered by the problem since just before the All-Star break, but was playing through the pain. He sat out Saturday's game against Boston, leaving the retroactive date as August 13.
In 99 games this season, Podsednik is batting .282 with no homers and 19 runs batted in. He has been the sparkplug at the top of the Chicago lineup and leads the majors with 54 stolen bases.
However, the injury could be a major factor in why he has been caught stealing in nine of his last 13 attempts.
The White Sox filled the roster spot by purchasing the contract of outfielder Brian Anderson from Triple-A Charlotte. Anderson was hitting .295 with 15 home runs and 54 RBI in 111 games with the Knights.
