The Chicago Bears signed kick returner J.J. Moses to a two-year contract on Wednesday. As per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not released.
Moses, an explosive runner from Iowa State, handled kickoffs and punt returns for the Houston Texans the past two years. Moses, who turns 26 next month and can play wide receiver, averaged 22.5 yards on kickoffs and 7.3 yards on punts since Houston signed him as a free agent on February 2, 2003.
To make room for Moses on the roster, the Bears waived running back Fred Russell. Russell signed with the Miami Dolphins as a free agent on April 30, 2004 after a successful career at Iowa. He saw no action last season.
