The Boston Red Sox activated first baseman John Olerud from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.
Olerud had been out since August 1 with a left hamstring strain. He went 2- for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Detroit.
The two-time All-Star, who joined the Red Sox in May, is batting .297 in 50 games this season with three homers and 19 runs batted in. The veteran is a three-time Gold Glove winner and won the AL batting title in 1993 with Toronto.
Olerud split last season with the Mariners and Yankees, hitting .259 with nine homers and 48 RBI in 127 games.
However, he wasn't signed over the winter, as he recovered from surgery on his left foot to repair ligaments torn in Game 3 of last October's American League Championship Series.
Olerud, who has appeared in six postseasons, has topped .300 in a full season four times in his career, hitting better than .290 on eight occasions. He has also hit 20 homers five times and topped 100 RBI in four seasons.
