Cincinnati Reds infielder Ryan Freel underwent arthroscopic surgery Thursday to remove cartilage from his right knee.
Freel, who is expected to be out 2-3 weeks, was placed on the 15-day disabled list last Tuesday
The 29-year-old Freel has also been suffering from a strained right quadriceps and was on the disabled list earlier this season with a toe injury. He is hitting .282 with three homers, 15 RBI and 29 stolen bases this season.
