Texas pitcher Kevin Gryboski was suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount on Thursday for his actions following an August 9 game versus the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
The Rangers were beaten 8-7 in 10 innings with Gryboski taking the loss after allowing three hits and a run in 1 1/3 innings. He gave up the winning RBI single to Edgar Renteria and then came off the mound yelling at home plate umpire Derryl Cousins, who promptly ejected Gryboski even though the game was over.
Gryboski, who was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma Tuesday night, was obtained from the Braves in a July trade. He is 1-1 with an 11.17 ERA in 11 games for the Rangers.
Since Gryboski is playing in the minors, his suspension is scheduled to begin when he returns to the majors. He can also appeal the ruling.
