The St. Louis Cardinals activated rightfielder Larry Walker from the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday's 4-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday at Busch Stadium. Walker finished 0-for-3 in his first appearance since July 22. The 1997 National League MVP was put on the DL July 23 so he could rest after receiving a third cortisone shot in his neck. He has been bothered by a herniated disc the entire season. The 38-year-old Walker is batting .267 with 11 homers and 40 runs batted in over 74 games this season. In other team news, the Cardinals sent catcher Mike Mahoney to Triple-A Memphis to make room for Walker on the roster.
