Italian side Parma has officially protested Thursday's UEFA Cup loss on the road against CSKA Moscow.
CSKA easily handled a young Parma team in Moscow, 3-0, despite another ugly incident involving a flare. The match took a turn for the worse in the 20th minute when Parma goalkeeper Luca Bucci was hit with a firework. Bucci left the game several minutes later and Sebastien Frey took his place. Frey allowed the final two goals.
UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body will meet Sunday in Geneva. CSKA is almost certainly facing a heavy punishment.
The UEFA Cup final is scheduled for May 18 at Jose Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon, Portugal. CSKA is slated to take on Sporting Lisbon. Sporting will be playing the final on its own home field.
