The Oakland Athletics placed closer Octavio Dotel on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a strained right elbow. The move is retroactive to May 17.
Dotel has appeared in 15 games this season and is 1-2 with a 3.52 ERA and seven saves. He last pitched against Boston on May 16, earning the save with a scoreless ninth inning.
The 31-year-old Dotel is tied for the major league lead with four blown saves, with all of them occurring between April 30 and May 11.
Meanwhile, the club recalled infielder/outfielder Jermaine Clark from Triple-A Sacramento. Clark participated in three games for the Athletics earlier this year.
