The Atlanta Braves placed starting pitcher Mike Hampton on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday for the fourth time this season.
Hampton, who was scheduled to pitch Wednesday's finale against the Chicago Cubs, has been bothered for most of the season with stiffness in his left forearm, but his latest trip to the DL is due to an ailing back.
The 32-year-old lefthander is 5-3 on the season, while pitching to a 3.50 earned run average. In his last start on Friday against the San Diego Padres, though, Hampton was roughed up for seven runs and 11 hits in just 3 1/3 innings.
So, now Jorge Sosa will get the start on Wednesday for the Braves. Sosa has appeared in 36 games for Atlanta this season, 12 of which have been starts, and is 8-2 with a 2.63 ERA.
