The Tampa Bay Devil Rays activated first baseman Travis Lee off the 15-day DL on Friday, while announcing that outfielder Chris Singleton has been designated for assignment.
Lee, who was on the DL since May 2 due to a strained right groin, has missed 16 games this season for the Devil Rays. The veteran Lee is major league baseball's all-time career fielding percentage leader (.977) among first basemen with 750 or more games played.
He started 16 of 24 games before going on the DL.
In 28 games this season, Singleton was batting .271 but fanned 14 times. The Rays have 10 days to release, trade, or ask waivers on Singleton.
