Colorado Rockies closer Chin-hui Tsao will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum on his right shoulder.
Tsao, who will have the surgery done on May 25, opened the 2005 season on the Rockies' disabled list with inflammation in the shoulder. However, the righthander was reinstated to the active list on April 12 and appeared in 10 games.
He posted a 1-0 record with three saves and a 6.55 ERA before he was placed back on the DL last Friday.
Following the surgery, Tsao will begin rehabilitation in Denver. There is no date for his return.
