Baltimore Orioles pitcher Sidney Ponson was arrested for DUI, The Sports Network learned Thursday.
According to the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Ponson was pulled over on Interstate 95 southbound at 1:31 a.m. (et) Thursday morning for following too closely.
After failing a field sobriety test, the righthander was charged with driving under the influence and operating a vehicle while impaired. He was later released.
Ponson has been struggling on the field as well, toting a 7-11 record with a 6.21 earned run average in 23 games this season. Ponson, who is currently on the 15-day disabled list because of an injured leg, is 0-7 in his last nine trips to the mound.
The Noord, Aruba native hasn't won since June 18 versus Colorado.
