The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Milton Bradley on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday, one day after the team announced that he would likely need season-ending surgery to repair a partially torn left patella tendon.
The Dodgers announced prior to Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Colorado Rockies that Bradley had an 80-percent tear of the tendon and that he was seeking a second opinion.
Earlier in the week Bradley caused a stir in the Dodgers locker room when he stated that teammate Jeff Kent did not know how to deal with African- Americans.
Bradley, who has not played since Monday, is batting .290 with 13 homers and 38 RBI in just 75 games this season. The 27-year-old Bradley also missed nearly two months with a torn ligament in his right ring finger.
To replace Bradley on the roster, the Dodgers recalled utilityman Mike Edwards from Triple-A Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League. Edwards has appeared in 62 games for the Dodgers and hit .271 with a home run and nine RBI.
