San Diego Padres righthander Adam Eaton was activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday and made his first start in over two months during the club's 4-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Eaton took the loss after allowing four runs -- three earned -- and six hits over five innings. The righthander had not started since June 15 against Detroit. He left that start due to a strained flexor tendon on his right middle finger and was placed on the DL. He returned in early August, but got hit hard in two relief outings and was sent back on the shelf. In 17 appearances, including 15 starts, Eaton is 9-3 with a 3.86 ERA. To make room on the active roster, the Padres optioned catcher David Ross to Triple-A Portland.
