The Philadelphia Phillies announced Saturday they have acquired outfielder Michael Tucker and cash from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for minor league pitcher Kelvin Pichardo.
Tucker, 34, batted .241 with five home runs and 33 RBI in 103 games with the Giants this year.
The 11-year veteran has a .257 average with 124 home runs and 519 RBI in 1,359 career games. He has played for Kansas City, Atlanta, Cincinnati, the Chicago Cubs and the Giants.
The righthanded Pichardo is 3-2 with a 4.17 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 10 games, nine of them starts, for the rookie-level Gulf Coast Phillies. The 19-year-old has pitched a total of 54 innings.
