Florida Marlins reliever John Riedling was put on the 15-day disabled list Monday due to right shoulder tendinitis.
Riedling had just been recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday and surrendered three runs and three hits in just two-thirds of an inning in Sunday's 14-3 loss at Chicago.
The righthander, who turned 30 on Monday, signed with the Marlins as a free agent during the offseason after five years with Cincinnati but has struggled mightily in his first year with his new club. In 29 relief appearances Riedling has posted a 7.16 earned run average and has allowed 34 hits in 27 2/3 innings.
Righthander Chris Resop was promoted from Double-A Carolina to fill the roster spot. The 22-year-old rookie gave up eight runs in 8 2/3 innings over seven outings in an earlier stint with Florida this year.
