The San Diego Padres have placed veteran right-hander Pedro Astacio on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right quadriceps muscle.
Astacio picked up a win on Sunday by going seven innings in a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies. He allowed only two runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts to pick up his second win in seven starts for San Diego.
The 35-year-old Astacio started the season with Texas, but was released after going 2-8 with a 6.04 ERA in 12 starts. He was then signed by the Padres and has posted a 2-2 mark in nine outings (seven starts) since moving to San Diego.
The Padres recalled outfielder Ben Johnson from Triple-A Portland to replace Astacio on the active roster. Johnson is hitting .312 with 25 homers and 83 RBI for the Beavers this season.
