The Boston Red Sox have recalled infielder Kevin Youkilis from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Youkilis, who was not in the starting lineup for tonight's game with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, has hit .288 with one home run and nine RBI in four stints with the Red Sox this season.
Last year the versatile infielder hit .260 with seven home runs and 35 RBI in 72 games for Boston.
To make room for Youkilis on the roster, the Red Sox shipped righthander Manny Delcarmen to Pawtucket following Tuesday's win over the Devil Rays. Delcarmen, who worked a scoreless eighth last night, did not pick up a decision and pitched to a 4.76 ERA.
