The San Diego Padres activated catcher Ramon Hernandez from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game at Milwaukee.
Hernandez was hampered by a cartilage tear in his left wrist and underwent surgery in late July. He originally suffered the injury while sliding back to first base in a June 17th contest against Minnesota and missed three weeks of action. Hernandez returned from the injury in early July but was placed back on the disabled list, retroactive to July 25.
The seven-year veteran was putting together a solid season before the injury and is batting .273 with seven home runs and 38 RBI over 76 games for the year.
Hernandez is expected to share time with Miguel Olivo, who has hit .311 with four home runs in 90 at-bats since being acquired by the Padres from Seattle at the July 31 trade deadline.
