Bengals Waive Moore, Russell, 10 Others

Cincinnati defensive tackle Langston Moore and return specialist Cliff Russell were among 12 players waived as the Bengals pared their roster to the 53-player limit. Moore started eight games on the interior line for the Bengals a year ago, tallying 31 tackles and a sack on the season. The 2003 sixth-round choice out of South Carolina had become expendable when the club signed veteran Bryan Robinson in the offseason. Russell, meanwhile, had served as Cincinnati's primary kickoff returner last year. The Utah product, a former third-round pick of the Washington Redskins, averaged 22.4 yards on 39 returns and caught one pass for 21 yards last season. Along with Moore and Russell, cornerback Patrick Body, quarterback Casey Bramlet, wideout Jamall Broussard, linebacker Derek Curry, safety Herana-Daze Jones, fullback Ronnie Ghent, tackle Pete Lougheed, kicker Carter Warley, cornerback Brandon Williams, and running back Quincy Wilson were waived. In addition to those moves, the Bengals placed linebacker Caleb Miller on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list with an ankle injury. Miller, who started three games as a rookie a year ago, will be eligible to return to practice on Oct. 18. Cincinnati will open its season on Sept. 11, when it visits AFC North rival Cleveland.
