Cabrera throws gem in return from DL

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Daniel Cabrera threw seven shutout innings in his return from the disabled list Tuesday to help his team to a 5-0 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Camden Yards. Cabrera had been sidelined with a strained middle back, an injury he sustained while warming up in the bullpen prior to his last scheduled start on August 17. He had been 0-4 in six starts before the injury and Tuesday's win was his first since July 14 at Seattle. The righthander had also been 0-3 in four starts against Toronto this season, but on Tuesday limited the Blue Jays to just four hits with one walk and 10 strikeouts. He improved to 1-4 in seven career starts against the Jays. "He located his fastball on the inner half and surprised some hitters," said Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo. "That's what good pitchers do. Even if you just have a fastball, if you can locate it, it's tough to hit on the inner half." The 24-year-old Cabrera improved to 9-11 for the season with a 4.75 earned run average in 25 games this season.
