Steelers pick up WR Morgan

Wide receiver Quincy Morgan was not without a home for very long. Shortly after being released by the Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed Morgan to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not available. The Cowboys' signing of wideout Peerless Price, coupled with the emergence of second-year player Patrick Crayton, made Morgan expendable in Dallas. He had dropped to at least fourth on the wide receiver depth chart, and was being paid a base salary of $750,000. The former Kansas State standout has posted 155 receptions for 2,316 yards and 15 touchdowns in four seasons in the NFL. He was traded to the Cowboys last season for Antonio Bryant, but reeled in just 22 catches and had no touchdowns in the nine games he played for Dallas in 2004. The Steelers released wideout Lee Mays to make room for Morgan on the roster. Mays, a four-year veteran, had 11 catches for 154 yards and 36 kickoff returns for 750 yards in his three years with Pittsburgh. He was limited this preseason with an injured hamstring.
