The San Diego Padres activated veteran right-hander Pedro Astacio from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
Astacio will start for San Diego on Saturday when the Padres host the Washington Nationals. The Padres entered Tuesday's action with a five-game lead atop the NL West.
Astacio, who had been sidelined since August 28, was out with a strained right quadriceps muscle. He suffered the injury while running the bases against Colorado.
The 35-year-old Astacio started the season with Texas, but was released after going 2-8 with a 6.04 ERA in 12 starts. He was then signed by the Padres and has posted a 2-2 mark in nine outings (seven starts) since moving to San Diego.
