The Colorado Avalanche announced Thursday the signing of first-round pick Wojtek Wolski.
Wolski, a right-winger who was selected 21st overall in the 2004 Entry Draft, played the last three seasons with Brampton of the Ontario Hockey League. He led the team in scoring over the past two seasons, and posted career highs in points (29 goals, 44 assists) in 2004-05.
The Zabrze, Poland native scored 29 goals in '03-'04 for Brampton, and was named to the OHL's First All-Star Team.
"Wojtek is a very gifted young prospect and he has a bright future in front of him," said Avalanche president and general manager Pierre Lacroix. "We are anxious to see him play in the upcoming exhibition games, but so far this week, he has shown us tremendous capabilities."
