Minnesota Twins pitcher Brad Radke will not start again this season because of pain in his right shoulder.
Radke has pitched through discomfort for most of the season and decided Tuesday that enough was enough with the Twins virtually eliminated from playoff contention.
"I've been going through this for 3 1/2 months," Radke was quoted on Tuesday by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "It would be a different story if we were fighting for a [playoff] spot."
The righthander worked five innings Monday against Oakland and took the loss in a 7-6 setback. He fell to 9-12 for the season with an earned run average of 4.04.
The 32-year-old Radke has spent his entire career with the Twins since breaking into the majors in 1995 and is signed through next season.
