Cincinnati Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. will undergo surgery on his left knee and right hamstring Monday.
Griffey will have an arthroscopic procedure to clear out his left knee and the wound surrounding the incision at the point of last year's right hamstring surgery. Reds medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek will preform both surgeries.
A candidate for the Comeback Player of the Year Award and 1 of 6 finalists for the National League's Hank Aaron Award, Griffey was limited to three games during the second half of 2004. In 128 games this season Griffey hit .301 with 30 doubles, 35 homers and 92 RBI.
The Reds also announced that first baseman Sean Casey will not play again this season due to a grade 2 concussion he suffered following a collision with Pittsburgh's Humberto Cota on September 16.
