The Chicago White Sox won a pair of coin flips conducted by Major League Baseball on Wednesday, and would host the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox to determine a possible wild card winner.
The White Sox head into Thursday's play with a three-game advantage on Cleveland in the AL Central.
Cleveland remained tied with Boston for the AL wild card lead, as the Red Sox lost at home to Toronto on Wednesday. The New York Yankees, who came into Wednesday also tied for the wild card spot, took over the AL East lead with their win over Baltimore.
