Sparta Prague have parted company with coach Jaroslav Hrebik following a string of poor results and a public falling out with Karel Poborsky that saw the Czech Republic's most capped player loaned to a second division club.
"This decision was brought about the current unfavourable situation and a series of bad results for the first team," Sparta's vice-president Daniel Kretinsky said.
Sparta were the Czech first division champions last season but Hrebik, 56, had proved unpopular with fans since taking over as coach in December.
Sparta have had a torrid time of late, struggling in the domestic Czech league and being beaten 1-0 by Swiss minnows FC Thun in the Champions League group stages.
Former Manchester United and Lazio star Poborsky paid the price for criticising Hrebik by being sacked from the first team and sent on loan to his home town of Ceske Budejovice, currently lying 13th in the second division, until the end of this year.
Poborsky has been capped 107 times for the national side, more than any other player in Czech football history, and was last week named in the Czech squad for World Cup qualifiers against the Netherlands and Finland on October 8 and 12 respectively.
