The Texas Rangers traded righthander Vladimir Nunez to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for a player to be named later.
Nunez had spent this season with Texas' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma. He appeared in 17 games for the RedHawks and went 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA and four saves.
The 30-year-old Nunez is a seven-year major league veteran, spending time with Arizona, Florida and Colorado. He participated in 22 contests in 2004 for the Rockies and posted a 3-3 mark with a 7.01 ERA.
For his career, Nunez is 20-32 with a 4.83 earned run average and 21 saves.
