The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Monday they have signed left-handed pitcher Dave Williams to a one-year contract for the 2006 season.
The 26-year-old Williams, who was able to avoid salary arbitration, was 10-11 with a 4.41 ERA in 25 starts with Pittsburgh this past season. He led the club in wins and also set personal career-highs in every statistical category.
Selected in the 17th round of the 1998 June draft, Williams made his major league debut with the Pirates in 2001.
In 66 career appearances (58 starts) with Pittsburgh, he has gone 17-26 with a 4.25 ERA.
