The San Francisco Giants activated pitcher Jason Schmidt from the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He earned the win in the Giants' 5-3 victory at SBC Park.
Schmidt, who had been on the DL since May 8 with a right shoulder strain, surrendered three runs and five hits in five innings. He also struck out seven batters while walking three and belted a solo home run at the plate.
He is 3-1 with a 4.79 earned run average in eight starts this season.
The 32-year-old righthander has won at least 13 games in each of the last four seasons. He was an All-Star in 2003 and 2004.
To make room on the roster, San Francisco optioned pitcher Jeremy Accardo to Triple-A Fresno.
