After a 10-day stint in Triple-A to work on some mechanical problems, Seattle Mariners pitcher Joel Pineiro was recalled to the major league club and started the team's 3-2 loss at Baltimore on Tuesday.
Pineiro, who was optioned to Tacoma on May 14 after a string of rough performances with the Mariners, allowed just one run and five hits and received a no-decision. The righthander walked four and struck out three.
The 26-year-old Pineiro has a 2-3 record and a 5.93 ERA in seven starts this season. He began the year on the disabled list with stiffness in his right shoulder.
