The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a two-year contract with infielder Neifi Perez. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Perez played 154 games for the Cubs in 2005, starting 118 at shortstop, and batted .274 with nine homers and 54 runs batted in. He originally signed with the club on August 19, 2004 after being released by the San Francisco Giants.
In 10 major league seasons with Colorado, Kansas City, San Francisco and Chicago, the 32-year-old Perez has a .270 batting average with 61 homers and 454 RBI.
